This is an interesting example of the Roman Road having been altered. The Forestry Commission has woodland sites on the Neath Valley side and the Dulais Valley side of Hirfynydd. This is a track to carry Forestry Commission traffic across the ridgeway of the mountain, it follows the route of the Sarn Helen road for 2 or 300 meters. The track which the Forestry Commission has made is probably 4 - 5 times the width of the Roman Road that it runs along, (you can see the width of the Sarn Helen where it becomes eclipsed by the Forestry Commission track).
